In June of 2014 the City of Clearwater asked members of the community to meet and participate by providing input to a panel of members from the Urban Land Institute. The purpose of these small stakeholder meetings was conduct interviews and gather information. These meetings took place over a few days and the ULI panel assimilated the information with the purpose of creating a plan to re-energize downtown Clearwater. Panel members also visited downtown locations to get first hand knowledge of issues and concerns.
Once the meeting and information gathering phase was completed the panel met privately to create a plan. The panel then presented its plan to the public. Here are some links to the plan presentation as well as to the plan that was created - [VIDEO PRESENTATION] [HARD COPY REPORT] [CITY OF CLEARWATER SITE] [URBAN LAND INSTITUTE SITE]
After the presentation, Clearwater's city management and staff reviewed the recommendations and held a series of public meetings at City Council meetings and workshops about the best course of action to pursue. [November 12, 2014 Meeting] [January 21, 2015 Meeting] [March 02, 2015 Meeting ]
Through these meetings and public input, the Clearwater City Council has decided to hold public meetings rather than form a stakeholder advisory committee. The first of these meetings will be held on April 13, 2015 at the City of Clearwater Main Library located at 100 N Osceola Ave Clearwater FL 33755 at the ground floor meeting room. This meeting takes place between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
